How to end chronic daily headaches

How was I able to help a patient end 50+ days of a chronic daily headache? What could I see on a simple x-ray that radiologists could not see on a CT scan or an MRI? Why did it take a referral from a family friend to get this patient into a chiropractor?

All very interesting questions. Let’s dive in.

How we ended chronic daily headaches for this patient

Most of the details are found in the short video above. But here is a brief summary.

  • A 21 year old male was hit in the head by a fallen branch
  • He was diagnosed with a mild concussion
  • Some months later he started noticing headaches
  • His headaches here and there turned into a 50+ day marathon of one continuous headache
  • At the same time he began noticing his short term memory was becoming a problem – he had to focus more to remember and stay on task
  • In the meantime a CT scan and an MRI revealed “nothing” that could explain his headaches
  • He was referred to our office by a family friend, where a free screening showed external signs of internal stress
  • We took an x-ray which showed his first neck bone was tucked up against the back of his skull
  • And he had a major misalignment of his upper cervical spine (top of his neck), which was corrected very gently over a series of visits

Over the next 4 to 6 weeks his headaches became less and and less finally faded away.

More than just a 50 day headache went away

An after image of his neck revealed a change in the position of his first neck bone (atlas) and an improvement in his reverse cervical curve.

A lot of unnecessary headache suffering could be ended if:

  • people were not so programmed to fear all spinal care,
  • and radiologists sent their negative CTs and MRIs for a structural evaluation by a chiropractor

Thank goodness this young man was smart enough to get a second opinion.
