Virtual Assessments and Coaching for Pain and Posture

Are you stuck at home with your pain?  Maybe I can help you where you are. All you need to get started are a few photos of your posture and an Internet connection.

Hi friend,

  • Are you stuck at home with your pain?
  • Are you aware of problem alignment, or suspect that something isn’t balanced quite right?
  • Are you ready to finally do something about it and you want the experience of working with someone who understands the mechanics of the spine/postural balance, and has the posture transformations to prove it?

I’d love to work with you. And in a perfect world, I’d love for you to experience the best I can offer in my office.

Many local patients find me through my videos online. Those outside my area write me regularly looking for help. An online assessment is one way to find help. Online clients receive custom videos like this one to help them understand their challenges.

But there may be a few things stopping us from living in that perfect world right now.

  • You’re too far away, and you’re unsure of who you should work with locally
  • You’re currently home bound under some sort of stay inside order or recommendation (that’s pretty much most of us right now – April 2020)
  • Or you don’t have the resources to make it happen when you’re too sore to do anything else (time, energy, or financial)

Can I help you through a virtual assessment and self-treatment recommendation?

Yes, I may be able to help you without making a face-to-face visit… Just as long as you’re ready to do a little bit of at-home work.

First, let me tell you what we aren’t going to do. My reputation is incredibly important to me, and I work hard to make sure my patients can get the changes they want.

Let’s get the bad news out of the way first: this isn’t an in-office visit

I don’t want you to get the impression I can do something virtually in the exact way that I can in my office.

I want you to know that the structural release I provide in my office through a unique mix of chiropractic techniques and analysis you cannot recreate on yourself in the comfort of your own home. That’s why patients in my area regularly drive 90 minutes to come work with me.

Nothing we can do will be a substitute for that kind of in-person care.

Now let’s get to the good news: I can still help you solve some of your problem areas

Unlocking posture and pain is my focus in my practice.

We can still trouble shoot and solve problem areas and give you a combination of self-care tools based on my own methods that will help you unlock some of your own pain and discomfort.

You’ll have an opportunity to feel more at ease in your own skin, sleep better, and experience more calm, which is very important right now (during a time of pandemic stress).

You’ll get step by step instruction on how you can best unlock your posture (at home) based on your unique posture presentation, and how to treat your problem and painful areas.

This is customized assessment based on your individual needs if you’re looking for a specific strategy to help yourself — this is not a “self-study” or “self-led” program

There are many online tools for self-treatment and improvement, including generalized exercise and rehabilitation videos. Many are great. But the one thing they lack is custom instruction through a personalized health consultation.

If you’re one of those people who can cobble some research from the internet together and come up with your own at-home therapy, then awesome! This assessment and coaching experience is probably not for you.

If you’re someone who wants personalized instruction based on your unique health history, then request an online consultation as soon as possible.

I want you to help yourself to less pain and better function as soon as possible

At this time (due to social distancing) I’m prioritizing virtual assessments and would like to help you as much as I’m able via my online platform.

That said, I’m only interested in working with you if you’re really hungry for a change and would like to feel better as soon as possible — which means you’re willing to do some work at home.

I’m so confident in this process that I’d like to extend to you a discount off my usual rate of 250-$330/hour.

If you request a virtual assessment in April, you’ll receive a consult and my personalized recommendations for $147, which is approximately 50% less than my in-office examination and first treatment fee.

I have never offered this discount before, and I’m not sure how long I will do so, so take advantage of it today.

Gain the understanding of a unique perspective within the fields of chiropractic, myofascial therapy, and manual medicine

After examining thousands of posture photos, and seeing patterns in where/how pain appears in the body, I have a unique perspective within my profession.

Please understand, that while many practitioners talk about posture, few measure and observe posture on every single patient visit, and record the change created by releasing certain muscles, joints, and areas of the spinal column.

Few practitioners take before and after posture photos, and then continue to monitor changes over several months. And even fewer practitioners take before and after x-rays and continue to monitor changes over several months.

But you can gain some of that experience when you request a virtual assessment with me.

Frequently Asked Questions About Personalized Virtual Assessments

How does a virtual assessment work?

  1. The first step is for you to request a virtual assessment via my online form.
  2.  I will email you a few options for consultations.
  3. Once we have a time scheduled, you’ll download some history forms and fill them out.  You will also receive step-by-step instructions in how to take an accurate posture photo. I’ll need a posture photo from the front, side, and back.
  4. Once you have these photos and your history form, you’ll upload them via a secure link. I will review them before our face-to- face consult. (If you have old-xrays or images taken from CT scans or MRIs you’ll be able to add those as well.)
  5. We will have our face-to-face (virtual) consult via one of two video apps. The consult will last about 30 minutes.
  6. After the consult, you’ll receive a customized self-care plan with video instructions, which will include my recommendations, including virtual anatomical guides.
  7. Once you download your video instructions, I will follow up with you on another video chat to clarify any instructions (about 15 minutes)
  8. I will give you an optional follow-up about a week later.

What exactly will I be doing based on your virtual assessment?

My recommendations will be a combination of myofascial release (self-trigger point massage), specific body movements/positions, and stretches to isolate certain muscles.

These are common tools for self-therapy, but keep in mind, where you touch and release really does matter, which is why you’re consulting with me.

What am I getting from you that’s different than a conversation with someone else?

Before and after posture photos give me a different set of eyes than many.

This is a great question. Without getting too technical, I will give you my (obviously biased) best and honest answer.

Because of my experience integrating postural assessments at every single patient visit with my structural assessment of standing spinal x-rays, I have a different set of eyes than most practitioners.

I also palpate (that means feel/examine with the hands) the tension pattern (how tension travels across the body) in all of my patients.

I see the human posture and spinal balance with a different understanding that allows me to pin-point unique areas where the body may be bound in a dysfunctional pattern.

I believe the physical body/structure of the body is best understood as a tensegrity structure, and that means any chronic pain will also need to be addressed through multiple areas away from the location of the pain.

There are seven plane of tension in the body, and five of those will body will rotate and store pain and tension as it attempts to balance against gravity, and understanding this information is important for helping patients help themselves.

I would like to share this information with you.

Do I need any equipment?

It depends. Many of things you’ll be instructed to do, you won’t need equipment. I usually suggest that you have on-hand a few items that you can find locally or via online delivery.

They include:

  • Foam roller (around $7 – $30 US) – a big swimming noodle may work for you
  • Small/hard massage ball (Lacrosse) (around $8 – $20 US) – a golf ball will work for many areas of the body
  • Exercise band (Around $12 – $25 US)
  • Cane/rounded massage tool (Around $12 – $35 US)

You can purchase a low cost version of all of these together for around $50 US. They are all re-usable.

Can I use my insurance? And how does payment work?

I’m not currently billing insurance for virtual consultations at this time. I will bill your credit card at the time of our consultation. Unfortunately I cannot send any recommendations and review your information until payment is made.

You can use a flexible spending account, or a health savings account, and documentation will be provided for you in case its necessary for your health care account administrator.

Can I follow up with you after the consultation and I look at the recommendations?

After I send you my recommendations, you will receive a follow-up consult to answer any questions live via video. This is an optional service that is free, which I have in place to make sure you understand my instructions.

Any follow-up after that is available via chat at $45 US per 15 minute block.

Will my information be kept private?

Currently regulators have relaxed some laws regarding online health care consultations that involve video chat. In the United States something called HIPAA law regulates how how private health information is stored and transmitted.

Here’s what I can tell you.

Your written information and the video recommendations I make for you will be uploaded to the cloud and stored in a password protected folder, to which only you and I have access.

Our online consultation will not be encrypted, however, unless you interact with me on one of the few video chats with end-to-end encryption. I can provide you the name of the program I use which does have end-to-end encryption.

If encryption is not important to you (and it’s not to most) we can use Skype, Zoom, or Google Hangouts.
